We’ve repeated this before, but Zig Ziglar once said, “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.”
This is true for success in your business.
If you don’t have clear goals, you’re not going to see the growth and success you’d like.
Here are a couple of examples to illustrate:
- Rather than saying, “I want to grow,” a better goal would be, “I want to sell an average of 100 pieces per month by September.”
- Rather than saying, “I want to make more money,” a better goal would be, “I want to average $1,000 per month in revenue by the end of the year.”
Without clear goals like these, you end up having nothing truly to shoot for and no real way to measure your progress.
This is how your success is like a gun – you need to aim in order to hit your target. If you’re at the shooting range and you aren’t aiming, you’re not going to hit your goal.
So what are you aiming at? Do you have clear goals, or are your goals too ambiguous?
Perhaps you don’t have any goals at all yet. It’s totally fine to come from that starting point, but now’s the time to hunker down and get to thinking about what you’d really like to accomplish with your business.
There aren’t necessarily right or wrong answers when it comes to this – Your goals may look totally different from someone else’s. And that’s okay!
The point is that you need something measurable to shoot for.
And don’t worry too much about getting your goals perfect. You likely will adjust and tweak and reprioritize your goals as you go.
If you haven’t already, take some time to write down some goals for your business today. Think about where you are, where you’d like to be, and how you might be able to get from A to B.
And then start taking the steps to get there!
