Every person who has their own business wants it to be successful. (Otherwise, what would be the point of having your business?)
But one reason many business owners don’t do well is that they stop at the “wanting.”
Just “wanting” will get you nowhere. True success requires commitment.
You can’t just hope and dream and talk about it. You have to get out there and do it. You do what needs to be done to get your business where you’d like it to be.
In Star Wars, Yoda speaks to this concept when he tells Luke Skywalker, “Do, or do not. There is no try.”
The same can be true for your business.
If you’re just thinking, “I’ll try to be successful,” you’re probably not going to get the kind of success you’re hoping for. The reason is that success doesn’t typically just happen – it doesn’t come by accident. You don’t “stumble upon” it.
But if you’re thinking, “I will be successful,” and you throw yourself into that commitment, you’ll take the necessary steps to see positive results in your business.
There is a legend that when Hernán Cortés and his men came to America, they burned their ships upon arrival, destroying the possibility of giving up on their quest and going back home. Whether or not the story is true, the point is relevant – the “no turning back” mentality, the commitment to success.
What about you? Do you have that kind of commitment to your business’s success? Do you have a “There is no try” and “Burn the ships” mindset?
What steps can you take today to pursue a firmer commitment to success?
