Are you treating your business as an actual business, or do you view it more as a hobby?
Viewing it as a hobby is totally fine; you just have to have the right expectations about it.
If you’re viewing it as a hobby (something to do for fun in your leisure time) you most likely won’t see a lot of profit generated from it.
And that may be just fine!
You may have other priorities in life, such as family or church involvement. It may not be the right time or season of life for you to throw yourself fully into a business.
You want to be realistic about your approach to your business so that you’re not getting frustrated when you don’t see a lot of growth and success.
To see real growth and success generally takes work. It takes treating it like a business rather than a hobby.
If you’re caught between the “hobby” and “business” mindset, you may want to take a step back and reevaluate your goals and your purpose for your business.
What do you want to accomplish? Are you wanting something that will be a major source of income for you? Or are you just looking for something fun to do on the side?
You’ll want to decide what’s right for your situation and set realistic expectations.
That’s not to say you won’t have overarching goals and strategies for growth if you decide to treat it more as a hobby, but it’s going to look different than if you decide to pursue it as a business.
So take a moment today and think about your business. Think about whether you’ve been treating it like a business, or a hobby, and whether your expectations are in line with your approach.
