Live sales are a major resource for jewelry consultants in this day and age.
They have the potential to reach so many people; they require little preparation, time, or set-up compared to some other sales methods (such as an in-home party or a vendor event); and they are more intimate than just directing people to a website to make a purchase.
But there’s a problem – Some of you may be terrified of going live.
You may be concerned about things like looking unprofessional, not knowing what to say, being self-conscious about your appearance, or overall not being able to control or undo what might happen.
We get it! These are not unusual concerns.
But if you really want to make your business grow, succeed, and thrive you’ll want to do what you can to get comfortable with going live and doing live sales.
Reading that may make you feel discouraged. You may think, “There’s no way I could ever do that.”
But you may be surprised at how when you have the resolve to succeed and the commitment to do what you need to do and act in spite of fear, you can learn to do the things that terrify you.
Here are some tips to help you overcome your fear of doing live sales.
- Don’t wait to act thinking you’ll do it when you’re not afraid. If you’re waiting to hit that “live” button until you feel fully confident, it will likely never get done.
- Do some practice runs with close friends and family to get comfortable going through what you’re going to talk about.
- Have a general plan for what you’re going to do/say, but don’t stress out about it. Be okay just going with the flow. Try to be engaging, excited, and fun so that your live video is entertaining, but don’t be fake!
- Don’t be too concerned with how you’re dressed or what your hair or makeup looks like. You may want to look a little nicer than, say, sweatpants and a dirty T-shirt, but again don’t stress about it.
My final tip would be to just do it – hit that “live” button even though you may not feel totally prepared and just roll with it. 🙂
Things may not go totally according to plan and that’s okay! The more you do it, the better you’ll get. But the only way to get anywhere is to start.
