“If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.”
Zig Ziglar said this. And he was right!
Every business needs clear goals, otherwise you’re aiming at nothing.
Think of your business like a gun – What happens if you don’t AIM your gun before you shoot? Do you hit the target? No way!
So many people don’t have goals of what they are aiming at, just ambiguous ideas like “I want to grow” or “I want to make more money.”
But if you don’t have clear, precise goals you will find yourself, as Mr. Ziglar mentioned, hitting NOTHING.
Maybe that’s where you’re at right now in your business. You don’t have clear goals, and so each month you feel like you are just hitting “nothing,” running around in circles, but not moving in any particular direction.
Break your goals down
You need your overarching goal. Maybe for you that’s “financial freedom.”
Then you need to decided a more specific goal. Perhaps for you “financial freedom” means making $100k per year.
But you can’t stop there! You need to break it down even further because you may have a lot of steps along the way to make it to that $100k per year goal.
Think of your goals as dominos.
Did you know that with a domino, you can knock over another domino 1.5x as big as itself?
If you have a 2 inch high domino, it can knock over a 3 inch domino. And a 3 inch domino can knock over a 4.5 inch domino, which can knock over a bigger domino.
After 13 dominoes, you can knock over a 14 foot high domino, and after 29 dominoes you can knock over the Empire State Building.
This is what you need to do in your business.
If you’re only making $50 per month you can’t jump to $9,000 the next month. But you might be able to do just a little more – maybe it’s $100 per month.
Then eventually that $100 per month could turn into $250, which could turn into $500, and so on!
