We all have fears. We all have things that bring us anxiety.
Fear and nervousness are normal.
But what do you do when these fears are hindering the success of your business?
Are you afraid of doing live sales on Facebook because you’re not sure what to say or what might happen? So you don’t run them as much as you should (if at all) and your business suffers.
Or are you afraid of talking to strangers? So you don’t take advantage of different opportunities that come up to talk about your business and your business suffers.
These are examples of how fear can be detrimental to your business. But you can’t “just stop” being afraid – What can you do?
The key to overcoming your fears is to just do something.
If your fear is going live on Facebook, try running a mock live sale with family or friends first until you’re a little more comfortable. Maybe write out a script so you don’t have to think as much about what to say. Prepare as much as you can and then just do it – click that “live” button. It’s okay even to let your audience know you’re nervous – people like genuineness.
If your fear is talking to strangers, make a point to talk to 1 stranger each day for the next week about anything – The weather, their hair, their shoes. Then the next week try 2 strangers a week.
Before you know it, your fears will lessen. They may not go away entirely, but they will no longer cripple you and prevent you from doing what needs to be done to grow your business.
The most successful people are not fearless, but they choose to act in spite of fear, and that is real courage. Will you be courageous today?
